Survey Shows Seniors Remain Highly Satisfied with Medicare Rx Drug Benefit
Three years after Medicare Part D was made available, seniors enrolled in the program continue to feel extremely positive about it. Ninety percent of seniors enrolled in Medicare Part D are satisfied overall with the program - an increase of 12 percent since the benefit began - according to a new survey commissioned by Medicare Today and conducted by KRC research in September 2008.
An overwhelming majority of seniors (98%) feel fortunate to have Part D prescription drug coverage and 97 percent say it gives them peace of mind. Ninety-five percent say their plan works well, and 89 percent say their plan is delivering what it said it would.
In addition to high satisfaction ratings, the survey shows overall cost savings with Part D. Seventy-one percent say they have lowered their prescription drug spending. Now, more than one in four seniors receives medications they once had to skip or ration.
